# NASA / Webb visual references

These procedural, silver-blue particle studies derive their density distributions from the following images. Depth, motion, monochrome colour and two remixes are artistic interpretations, not measured 3D astronomy or NASA-generated imagery. No NASA logo or endorsement is used.

- Cosmic Cliffs (NGC 3324), NIRCam, 2022: https://science.nasa.gov/asset/webb/cosmic-cliffs-in-the-carina-nebula-nircam-image/ . Original display 14575×8441; sampled from NASA 2000px preview. Credit: NASA, ESA, CSA, STScI.
- Rho Ophiuchi, NIRCam, 2023: https://science.nasa.gov/asset/webb/rho-ophiuchi-nircam-image/ . Original display 12778×11968; sampled from NASA 2000px preview. Credit: NASA, ESA, CSA, STScI, Klaus Pontoppidan (STScI); image processing Alyssa Pagan (STScI).
- NGC 604, NIRCam, 2024: https://science.nasa.gov/asset/webb/ngc-604-nircam-image/ . Original display 4159×3374; sampled from NASA 2000px preview. Credit: NASA, ESA, CSA, STScI.

8192 brightness-weighted samples per reference are embedded in /matter/nasa-dust-data.mjs. Coordinate sampling fades borders and preserves cavities. Reference images are not loaded at runtime; sampled coordinates are served as a local module. N7 retains its existing exact silhouette.

Additional artistic density fields use Pillars of Creation (https://science.nasa.gov/asset/webb/pillars-of-creation-nircam-image/) and NGC 628 (https://science.nasa.gov/asset/webb/webb-and-hubbles-views-of-spiral-galaxy-ngc-628/) as visual references, without pixel sampling. Full-screen gas fields are procedural; NASA-derived particle targets retain the original samples above.
